Clear Windows Event Logs Fast
This video shows how to clear the event logs in Windows, both individually and all at once. These steps work in all modern versions of Windows, including older versions like Windows 7 and Windows 8:
In this video I’m going to quickly walk you through how to clear the event logs in Windows. I’m going to show you how to clear them individually and how to clear all of them at once.
Event logs are pieces of data that Windows automatically records for basically any significant action that takes place on the computer. A few examples of actions that can be recorded as event logs are users signing into a computer, connecting to a wireless network, plugging in devices such as USB drives, phones, or cameras, installing programs, changing Windows settings, and thousands of other things.
The first thing I’m going to do is open the Event Viewer. I’m going to do that by right clicking on the Start bar and selecting Event Viewer.
You can open the side menu and look at Application logs. If you want to clear one log, you can select it, then click Clear Log, and either save the log and clear it or just clear it. I’m just going to clear it.
If you open Administrative Events, you’ll notice there is no option to clear them. To clear all event logs on the computer at once, we can download a utility file that automates the process.
Go ahead and open a browser window and go to Google. Type in “clear all event logs”. You’ll see a result from 10forums.com. This is the link we’re looking for.
On that page you’ll find a great write-up about event logs. You can read it, or just scroll down until you see the download link. This is the batch file we want. Go ahead and download it and save it.
Now we need to run this file as administrator for it to work. Right click on it and select Run as administrator.
Close the window and hit Refresh. You should now see all the logs that have been cleared.
I’m going to have the 10 Forums link listed down below if you’d like to click on it from there. That’s all there is to it. Thank you so much for watching!
